ALTERNATIVES TO CANDY BARS (1)

I do love candy bars, they are colorful and add another personal touch to your wedding...but if you are anti-candies or want something a bit more original, there are many alternatives you could consider...

Here is a first selection of alternative bars:

1) A Vegetable and Fruit Bar
Not only it is healthy, but it can also be beautifully done, with fruits and vegetables matching the colour theme of your wedding:

2) A Waffle Bar
Be cheeky and offer all sorts of delicious toppings: chocolate sauce, syrups, whipped cream, chantilly, nuts, fruits, ice creams etc...

3) What I have never seen at a wedding but which could be a very good idea for a wedding in Provence: an olive bar, or an olive oil tasting point...Colourful, savoury and the smell is divine!

4) For a Mexican touch or Mexican theme: a tequila bar but remember to go for premium quality tequila...! Also, it is better to have this one at the end of your meal rather than during your cocktail/ "vin d'honneur", otherwise things might get a bit chaotic..!

5) Easy to set up and budget friendly: a pop corn bar...I love the rustic, cowboy tang of this one!

J'aime les Food trucks!

As you might already know, it is a French tradition to have a meal on the day following the wedding: this is called Retour de Noces and it is a wonderful opportunity to make the most of your guests in a laid back atmosphere.

We, at The Chateau Bee, love to organise country chic picnics for Le Retour de Noces: you can ask your local baker to cook a giant bread and just accompany it with some French cheese, saucisson, salad...and wine of course! The simplest things are always the best...

What we also like is to source some Food Trucks: food trucks are fun, can supply all sort of food and are usually good value...plus it is always a pleasure to watch the guests' faces when the truck arrives! Whether it is an ice cream truck, a galette truck or an exotic food camionette, it will definitely delight the kids as well as the adults!

Here are some ideas of Food Trucks you can find in France:

A Galette truck in Brittany...

Want your guests to enjoy some French yoghurts or ice cream? Ask for a Marguerite du Pre's truck. Based in Paris.

In the vicinity of Clermont-Ferrand, in the centre of France, you will find Les Bouchées de Monbento, a truck that offers delicious bouchées (meat, fish or vegetables in pastry) with salad in bentos (these little boxes from Japan), as well as buns and skewers.

Finally, a truck based in the South East of France: Les Davids, that offers entirely organic and local products, in a lovely green truck.

For more information about Food trucks, you can browse this directory.

A bientôt!

The Rise of the Eclair

Eclair is undoubtedly one of my favourites pastry...so I love the idea of having an "Eclair Tower" instead of the traditional Pièce Montée at the end of the wedding meal.
The new, trendy and parisian shop "Eclair de Genie" specialises in éclairs. The Eclair Guru, Christophe Adam, concocted some receipes that will make your tastebuds dance...Chocolat Grand Cru, Pomme-Vanille, Caramel Beurre Salé, Passion Framboise...a carnaval of flavours and textures and a delight for all your senses!

Here are a few pictures for you...

Naked Sponge Cakes - The New Fashion

I love naked cakes. I think the reason why they are so popular nowadays is because people are willing to have authentic weddings with high quality products and personalised designs, rather than traditional bling wedding cakes.

Just top up your naked cake with berries, small or big flowers, herbs, buds fruits or nuts: et voila...perfection is achieved!

Naked cakes are genuine and beautiful. Simple yet elegant.

Naked cakes are telling you: "I know I'm yummy looking and I don t need to do any more".
No show off, no outrageous make up. Just gorgeous nudity.

Here is a selection of naked cakes I find absolutely superb.

Flower Lollipops

A pretty and yummy DIY idea for a wedding favour or just for a nice afternoon with friends and children...some home-made flower lollipops!

Heather at Sprinkle Bakes used some pansy flowers but of course you could use any edible flowers: roses, marigolds, bergamot, mint, lavender...

The receipe is here and is quick to realise...the only difficulty being to find the edible (and organic) flowers!! I have ordered mine on the internet and I'll post some photos once I have received them!
